Working for Organizational Success

In the July 06 Edition of PE Magazine the question of "What Motivates and Inspires People To Work for Organization Success" stresses that "Everday Excellence" comes from "creating a better workplace through, attitude, action and appreciation."

Motivation grows when people are allowed to participate in decision making. People who look forward to going to work perform better than those who dread getting out of bed and dragging themselves to the office.

Managers and leaders are encouraged to allow broader participation in decision making, work task teamwork and participatory social events. Another important concept is one of breaking up units on a permanent or temporary basis to expose staffers to new ideas, peers, mentors and tasks.

At a recent new employee orientation our top leader reminded employees "there would be friction in the workforce." The best advise for working through that friction was for employees to stay informed with the issues by reading articles from leaders and partcipating in their teams. By remaining "situationally aware" combined with a blend of decision making, support, personal and team growth mixed with social enjoyment we create the groundwork for a motivated workforce.

I am an avid reader of the DOK since inception and I found it a good repository of information in construction (contract admin, lessons learned, etc.).
In your Items of Interest "Working for Organizational Success", I am 100% aggreeable. This is just like "no kids will be left behind"philosophy.
