Envirocon was awarded the American River Common Features - Pocket Geotechnical project.
The project includes construction of two reaches of cutoff walls in the existing left bank Sacramento levee. The first reach (Reach 2) extends from Levee Mile 4.0 to Levee Mile 3.2 (River Mile 52.1 to 52.4). A 1,750-foot-long Deep Mix Method (DMM) cutoff wall reaching a depth of approximately 110 feet was installed in Reach 2. The second reach (Reach 9) extends from Levee Mile 10.6 to Levee Mile 10.3 (River Mile 45.5 to 45.7). A 1,520-foot-long Soil–Cement-Bentonite (SCB) cutoff wall reaching a depth of approximately 40 feet was installed in Reach 9. The work in Reach 9 also required removal of 1,650 linear feet of railroad track, and providing traffic control on Highway 160 during construction. Envirocon also completed two large modifications to the contract, including construction of a concrete floodwall/stoplog structure, and reinstallation of the railroad tracks in Reach 9.
